Job Description:
Our client, a global accounting advisory firm, is seeking a
Director of Media & Entertainment Accounting to be based in either
Los Angeles or New York City (hybrid). This role demands a seasoned
professional with deep expertise in M&E accounting,
particularly direct experience with film and movie accounting (ASC
926), ultimate revenue recognition, and production cost
capitalization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong Big 4
background, a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and SEC
regulations, and proven leadership skills in client management,
business development, and team mentorship. This is a permanent
position requiring a CPA, extensive relevant experience, and strong
communication and interpersonal abilities.
Required Experience/Skills:
---ASC 926 Exposure (direct experience with film and movie ONLY
accounting required)
---Ultimate Revenue
---Capitalization of Production Cost
Responsibilities:
---Solve complex M&E accounting issues (content capitalization,
impairment, revenue recognition, intellectual property valuation)
independently.
---Leverage U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and industry guidance to
enhance the practice's technical capabilities.
---Develop and lead targeted M&E accounting training
programs.
---Take full ownership of engagement and project deliverables for
M&E clients.
---Lead client delivery and relationships, serving as the primary
point of contact.
---Consistently communicate issues and provide well-articulated
solutions to clients.
---Deliver outstanding written communication and drive billable
hours and exceptional client service.
---Ensure optimal staffing and utilization of team members within
the M&E practice.
---Drive practice growth and business development by generating
leads and securing new M&E clients.
---Proactively identify and scope opportunities at existing M&E
clients.
---Build and maintain a strong network of M&E industry
contacts.
---Enhance brand through active participation in industry events
and boards.
---Participate in the recruiting process (interviewing and
referrals).
---Ensure compliance with firm policies (timesheets, invoicing,
etc.).
---Mentor all professionals and encourage their growth.
---Lead by example, demonstrating strong ethics and teamwork.
---Drive overall firm growth and development through
initiatives.
---Actively engage in the community to enhance the firm's external
brand.
---Contribute to the practice's strategic direction and
improvements.
Minimum Requirements:
---Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business
Administration, or Commerce plus 8 years of experience in
Accounting (3-year foreign degree acceptable).
---Alternatively, a Master's Degree or equivalent in Finance,
Accounting, Business Administration, or Commerce plus 8 years of
experience in Accounting.
---At least 2.5 years of Big 4 public accounting experience.
---Eligibility for overtime pay.
Must Have:
---CPA certification.
---Extensive professional experience with US GAAP and SEC reporting
regulations.
---Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
---International accounting experience.
---Mastery of mentoring, speaking, presenting, training, and
writing skills
