location)Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the
Director of the Basic Needs/ECRT department, the Basic Needs
Assistant Coordinator provides vital support to the Basic Needs
Center and the Economic Crisis Response Team. This role involves
case management for students experiencing basic needs insecurities
and financial crises. The Assistant Coordinator will be trained in
the case management framework developed by the Basic Needs Center
to engage with students, assess their circumstances, and resolve
concerns by referring them to appropriate university or community
resources.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of basic needs
resources and challenges faced by students in higher
education.
- Support outreach, marketing, and programming efforts to reduce
stigma and increase utilization of basic needs services and
financial well-being programs.
- Manage front desk and lobby operations of the Basic Needs
Center.
- Assist with inventory tracking of basic needs items, support
programming efforts, and help establish written procedures for the
Basic Needs Center.
- Provide general administrative support to the Basic Needs
Center.
- Assist with events, training, and programming in the Basic
Needs Center.
- Support basic needs of students across the San Diego, Imperial
Valley, and Global Campuses.
- Collaborate with the Financial Aid Office to develop a thorough
working knowledge of all aid programs available at SDSU and the
processes for awarding aid each academic year.If you are passionate

- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible,
temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026,
with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated as non-exempt under FLSA and is
eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU
in San Diego.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from
a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral
sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related
field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has
acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown
below may be substituted for the required education on a
year-for-year basis.Key Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university
in social work or social welfare is preferred.
- Experience in case management and/or working with individuals
experiencing basic needs insecurities.
- Experience working with diverse populations and has
demonstrated cultural humility.
- Organized and able to prioritize competing obligations.
- Effective communicator both verbally and in writing and has
experience working in a team environment and creating
partnerships.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon
appointment is not expected to exceed $3,952 per month.Salary
placement is determined by the education, experience, and
qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal
equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.San Diego
